Living in a culture that is focused on image building creates a setting that challenges the building of authentic relationships even as parents. Gaining an understanding of how to build the connection with our child(ren) and keep it is very important to assure that they grow up with the necessary personal characteristics to be able to have authentic relationships with God and others. Knowing how to repair the connection is also important as it is impossible to be a parent that can always provide the connection in our human limitations. And the last step in parenting is being able to transfer their child’s connection and accountability to a relationship with God as Savior and Heavenly Father.

The Parenting by Design 8-week DVD series is a parenting class focusing on the ways children learn most effectively—through age-appropriate experiences, their parents’ example, and by learning how to explore the reasons for their behavior. Parents of children of all ages are encouraged to give their children age-appropriate choices and to walk empathically with them as they experience the consequences of those choices. Many examples of God, as the Perfect Parent, are used to help parents raise children who are likely to become better decision-makers and problem-solvers and to slowly prepare them for life outside the home. The aim of the classes is to follow God’s design to help children transition from dependence on parents to dependence on God. Books available in class. Cost: $15.00 per book.

What will you learn in a class called Perspectives on the World Christian Movement? Three enthusiastic and highly diverse classes completed the 15 week program this past Spring 2007—Bethel Independent Presbyterian Church, Rice University and Sugar Creek Baptist Church. ALL participants were in agreement that this is the class to mobilize believers to fulfill God’s global purpose. Is Perspectives just about “missions?” OR might there be something more to this class in our Missionary U program than placing ourselves in a position where God might ask us to do something we are not ready or willing to do? Instead of “Missions” Questions, contact Peggy Meeks at MeeksPH@aol.com
