Below, you can preview several opportunities to volunteer, ranging from one-time events to on-going commitments, from behind-the-scenes tasks to front-and-center positions, from working with preschoolers to working with senior adults! With this variety, you are sure to find an area that best fits your interests, gifts, and availability.

1. EXPLORE THE LIST
The list is in alphabetical order by department. Once you’ve explored the opportunities, take time to prayerfully consider where God wants you to serve.
2. TELL US YOUR INTERESTS
When you’re ready to Get In The Game, click one of the “SIGN UP NOW” links. You’ll be taken to a short form asking you to provide basic information about who you are and to indicate up to three volunteer opportunities that interest you. Submitting the form simply tells us that you’re interested and that you want more information.
3. TALK WITH A TEAM LEADER
After you submit the form, a volunteer team leader will contact you within a few days about taking the next step. This may be a one-on-one meeting, or a group meeting with other interested soon-to-be volunteers!
It’s no secret to the HFBC family that great things happen when God’s people come together to do His work for His kingdom. While completion of this assessment is not required to volunteer, it can better assist you in determining where to serve with your spiritual gifts. Here’s what to do:

Team Name: Baptism Photographer Ministry: Prayer, Missions & Connection Center Description: Volunteers will take pictures of our candidates. During the baptism portion of Sunday morning worship, you will use your passion for photography to create lasting memories for those being baptized.

Team Name: Christian Women’s Job Corps Ministry:Missions Training Center
Description: Volunteers will serve unemployed or under-employed women by helping to equip them with life skills.

At the conclusion of the worship hour you attend, you will hear the story of their journey of coming to know Christ and how He has led them to become a part of our church. Team Name: HFBC Prayer Ministry Team Ministry: Prayer, Missions & Connection Center Description: Volunteers will be instrumental in transforming our church into a “House of Prayer” as we will serve in various prayer initiatives. If you have a praying spirit or desire to develop one, we’d love to talk with you!
Team Name: Houston Project Team Ministry: Missions Description: Volunteers will participate with us in a church-wide missions endeavor to love our city in multiple sites across Houston through Vacation Bible School, Youth Events, Adult Ministry, Street Evangelism, and Food Distribution. We need 1,000 HFBC volunteers to serve in various ways, including VBS Teachers, Youth Leaders, Transportation Coordinators, Kitchen Helpers, Prayer Volunteers, and Adult Ministry Coordinators.

Team Name: On the Road Team Description: Volunteers will serve as compassionate drivers for those unable to drive to doctors appointments, trips to the grocery store, and various other errands.

Team Name: Special Events Team Description: Volunteers will utilize creativity in developing themes, locations, food, entertainment, decorations, etc. for spiritual and social events.

Team Name: Band of Brothers Recon Team Description: The Recon Team is commissioned with developing and implementing activities and opportunities for men to connect with one another for fun and encouragement with the end goal being a deepening involvement in Band of Brothers.

Team Name: Creative Calendar Enhancers Description: Volunteers will utilize creativity in communicating information via the HFBC Master Calendar program by assisting various church ministries with color and graphics enhancements for upcoming events viewed on the HFBC web site.
Team Name: College Outdoor Adventure Crew Description: Volunteers will plan and organize outdoor activities (such as rock climbing, rappelling, bike riding, etc.) for college students.
Team Name: Contact & Revive Description: Volunteers will connect with, encourage and minister to the away college students of HFBC through once a month emails, phone calls, letters, and care packages that remind them that their home church still loves them, cares for them and supports them.
Team Name: Emerge/Relevant Touch Team Description: Volunteers will greet students with a smile as they enter into Sunday Bible study, connect them to the sign-in table and make sure they feel welcomed.
Team Name: Emerge/Relevant Style Team Description: Volunteers will make the Bible Study look good. You will decorate, set up chairs, design the room set up, clean the stage, set out announcement sheets and more.
Team Name: Celebrate Recovery Prep Team Description: Volunteers will bring/prepare food for the Thursday night Celebrate Recovery meetings.
Team Name: Encouragers (Volunteers for H.O.P.E.) Description: Volunteers will greet people and set up the monthly H.O.P.E. meeting on Saturday mornings.
Team Name: Minute’s Notice (Special Service) Description: Volunteers will be those special people who are available at a "Minute's Notice" to help out with special projects and needs that arise in the counseling center.
Team Name: Pay Days Description: Volunteers will be service-oriented individuals with experience in the recruiting, HR, or business fields. You can contribute your talents by speaking at the H.O.P.E. meetings on topics such as job seeking, what employers are seeking in a potential candidate, interviewing techniques, resume writing, etc.
Team Name: Shrink-Wrap (Research/Resource) Description: Volunteers will take on the tasks of reading and researching, while forming usable resources for counselors and clients. If you are passionate about reading theology & psychology and enjoy taking lots of information and shrink-wrapping it to usable amounts, then this is the team for you.

Description: Volunteers will help wake up the membership for Pastor Gregg's message. You can brew, serve, deliver or maintain the coffee stations for Sunday morning or afternoon.
Team Name: The “Lunch Bunch” Description: Volunteers will give the school kids a new definition for “Lunch Lady!” Bless our school age kids with quick and healthy food at FBA’s Cafeteria.
Team Name: K.I.L.N. (Keep It Like New) Description: Volunteers will provide assistance by handling an assortment of minor repairs. Tasks include surveying the church to locate various maintenance needs. If you are the “Handy-Man” type, please consider helping us “Keep It Like New.”
Team Name: R.A.T.S. (Ready Able Task Servants) Description: Volunteers will provide assistance with many different tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing air filters, plumbing and other light maintenance jobs throughout the church.
Team Name: Healthy Helpers Description: Volunteers will assist in communicating the vision of First Place. If you have a background in nutrition or are a professional at losing weight, we want to talk to you.
Team Name: Frontline Team Description: Volunteers will help bookstore customers choose and purchase resources, gifts and cards. Training in customer service, product knowledge and use of the Point of Sale system is provided.
Team Name: Shutterbugs Description: Volunteers will use their creative gifts to capture the many facets of HFBC life including events, services, interesting people, the church facilities, and more! Do you have a talent in photography and own a digital camera? Then consider serving with us!
Team Name: Spidermen Description: Volunteers will utilize their content managing and HTML programming skills to assist with research and continued development of the HFBC website. You'll work with our staffed webmaster who handles the design aspects of the site. If you have professional working knowledge of web technology, we need you!
Team Name: Style Guides Description: Volunteers will keep the HFBC Graphics Staff abreast of current looks and trends in graphic design, and monitor HFBC print communication for compliance with our Graphic Standards. If you have knowledge of or work in the Graphic Design field, or have an eye for visually appealing communication, this is for you!
Team Name: Wordsmiths Description: Volunteers will assist with HFBC’s written communications, including journalism, copywriting, editing, proofreading, and/or translating. If you have excellent skills related to written language, come be a part of our team!

Team Name: Campus Guides Description: A unique opportunity to be placed as a Campus Missionary with the North American Mission Board (NAMB). A flexible schedule is needed for one visit a week to an assigned school and leadership in Wednesday night activities. This position does require approval from NAMB as well. What a great way to invest in students “in their world.”
Team Name: HUB Prayer Team Description: Volunteers willing to serve as prayer warriors are needed to pray for our students and our student ministry. No weekly activities are required, just a heart to pray! This is a great ministry for parents and grandparents of teens. We will keep you updated with email requests.
Team Name: Uplink Small Group Leader Description: Our students need loving adults to lead them through Bible Study each week. You could be that person! Requirements are love for God, love for students and love for God’s Word. Curriculum and lesson plans are provided as well as on-going training. Be part of a great and close community of small group leaders.
Team Name: Marketing Specialist Description: If you have experience and training in marketing, we could use your help. Provide assistance in the promotion of all Student Ministry events including giving direction to graphic design, developing promotion strategies and assisting in planning. Most work can be done from home by computer and timing is flexible. What a great way to increase our effectiveness in reaching this generation for Christ.
Team Name: The Happy Camper Team Description: Volunteers will help prepare for our Third – Fifth Grade Camp. The Happy Camper Team begins meeting in February and continues to function until July. This would be a great place for parents of Third – Fifth Graders to participate in and have input into our Children’s Camp.
Team Name: Kids Praise Him Team Description: Volunteers will help brainstorm and develop our Children’s Worship Program. This team will eventually develop sub teams for both the Kids Worship Music and Drama Team. We have 4 teams: Pew Crew Team, Sound Team, PowerPoint Team and Intake Team. We need volunteers with various skills, particularly those gifted in PowerPoint and Sound.
Team Name: On Mission Team Description: Volunteers will help with missions education events within our Girls in Action and Royal Ambassador Programs. Members of this team need to have a vision for missions education with children.
Team Name: Welcome to the Kingdom Team Description: Volunteers will make children and their parents feel at home in our church by serving as a greeter for Kingdom Kids Bible Studies. There is no preparation needed! We will give you all the information necessary to be successful!
Team Name: Enrichment Team Description: Volunteers will focus on encouraging, equipping, and empowering the couples of HFBC to thrive in their marriages. By planning and organizing quarterly marriage enrichment events and helping shape and focus our semi-annual marriage retreat, the Enrichment Team impacts the marriages at HFBC and beyond.
Team Name: Event Team Description: Volunteers will gather for the purpose of providing fun, romantic, and exciting opportunities for couples to fellowship and grow as a community for Christ. From Valentine’s Day Dinners to Intramural Sports, the Event Team serves the families of HFBC through creating opportunities for deepening friendships and making new connections.
Team Name: First Touch Greeters (Sanctuary – before) Description: Volunteers will serve at one of the eight entrances to the sanctuary by handing out the worship guides as well as welcoming everyone who comes in. Commitment can be for every Sunday, or every other Sunday.
Team Name: First Touch Greeters (Sanctuary – during) Description: Volunteers will serve during the 10:45 service at one of the eight entrances to the sanctuary by directing late-comers to the most appropriate entrance with the least disruption to the service. Volunteers usually work one Sunday a month.
Team Name: First Touch Greeters (Visitor Parking Lot) Description: Volunteers will serve in the church parking welcoming visitors, directing them to parking, and inviting them to stop by the Welcome Center for information. Volunteers usually work one Sunday a month.
Team Name: First Touch Greeters (Main Entrances) Description: Volunteers will serve at the various church entrances to greet and welcome each person upon entering the church. Commitment can be made for every Sunday, or every other Sunday.
Team Name: Seating Assistance – Worship Center Description: Volunteers in this capacity will have a face-to-face welcoming opportunity as we will find seating in the Worship Center for visitors and members. We will also advise patrons of the return seating policy, should they need to leave the Worship Center.
Team Name: Special Event Team Description: Volunteers will greet and assist people at special events sponsored by the Ministries Department or Jason Swiggart, such as conferences, seminars, special services and church-wide events such as Spring Loaded.
Team Name: Ushers – Worship Center Description: Volunteers in this capacity will have a face-to-face opportunity consisting of taking the offering, assisting in the Lord’s Supper and any other assistance needed as directed by the Pastor. Volunteers in this area work once every week.

Description: Volunteers in the Welcome Center serve in a one-on-one welcoming opportunity. Monthly commitment consists of welcoming visitors to the church, walking guests to Bible Study classes, answering any questions, and helping them in any other ways. Don’t worry about having to know everything; volunteers are trained!

Team Name: Wednesday Evening Small Group/Table Leader Description: Volunteers should have a sincere desire to see youth succeed God’s way. They will lead small group discussion time for the Wednesday Evening gathering, creating an atmosphere of openness, learning and sharing.
Team Name: Youth Ministry Team (Youth Mom/Youth Dad) Description: Volunteers will participate in the programs and love on the youth by creating relationships. They will act as safe parents to help guide the youth into making healthy decisions through showing care and encouragement.
Team Name: Axis Production – Team: Camera Operator Description: Volunteers will use industry standard professional video cameras to creatively capture elements in special events and services to be broadcast and/or recorded.
Team Name: Axis Production – Team: Special Video Engineer Description: Volunteers will use creative talents behind the scenes recording and editing the church's promos, commercials, videos for web, plays, and video clips used in sermons.
Team Name: Axis Production – Team: Visual Aide Engineer Description: Volunteers will use creativeness to artistically coordinate appropriate static and moving backgrounds along with lyrics and sermon notes for display during live performances and services.

Team Name: Impact Audio Team – Stage Managers Description: Volunteers will ensure that all equipment is routed and in the appropriate place, that all audio lines are checked before the start of each event, sound checks are done in an organized fashion, and any set changes during events are properly implemented.
Team Name: Can Hope Description: Volunteers will serve on this cancer support group by encouraging, presenting the gospel, and praying with the sick.
Team Name: Grief Share Support Description: Volunteers will encourage and assist those who have lost loved ones.
Team Name: Phase II Description: Volunteers will contribute as members of this fellowship group for those who have lost a spouse through death. You are invited to come and share if you have experienced such a loss.
Team Name: Stephen Ministry Description: Volunteers will equip lay people to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals at HFBC and the community who are experiencing difficulty in their lives.

Team Name: International Student Friendship Ministry Team Description: The International Student Friendship Ministry (“ISFM”) is a missions ministry that provides a Christian friend to every international student who request an American friend during their term of study. ISFM is a non live-in friendship ministry open to all Christian families and single adults. Friendship hosts are asked to complete a short application form and attend a one-time orientation class. After being matched with a student, friendship hosts are asked to be in contact with their student at least once a month and invite them into their homes. Additional information provided in the orientation class.
Team Name: Jail/Prison Ministry Team Description: Volunteers will interact with inmates through one-on-one mentoring, teaching, preaching, praise and worship and other contacts, such as prayers and letters of encouragement. Our goal is to direct you into a specific established ministry which meets the way that you are directed by the Holy Spirit. We have entry level service commitments or longer term service commitments to allow you to check the direction the Lord is leading.
Team Name: Mission Go Prep Team Description: Volunteers will assist the Missions & Connection Center staff and mission team leaders with daily tasks and with all required documentation, scheduling, supplies, and preparation. Areas involved: Missionary Journeys, New Members, Baptism, and church partnerships.
Team Name: Mission Prayer Network Description: Volunteers will pray with insight regarding mission needs locally, nationally and internationally.
Team Name: Mission Trips Description: Volunteers have the opportunity to participate in missions locally, nationally and internationally through our Central Missions Strategy. Trips include destinations such as Central America, Caribbean, Central Africa, Central Asia, Central Europe, Central South America, and locally in Central Houston, Texas. Go here to sign up!
Team Name: Perspectives on the World Christian Movement Description: Volunteers will assist with the number one mission course in the world! You will help with recruitment, hosting speakers, facilitating involvement, and food preparation.
Team Name: Extended Teaching Care Volunteers Description: Volunteers will serve once every six weeks in a specific classroom. They will care for the children during the hour opposite their Sunday School hour. This allows Sunday School volunteers and the parents of the children to attend worship services.
Team Name: Little People Party Planner Description: Volunteers will assist in planning events for children. These events include the Preschool/ Kindergarten Christmas Party, ABC/123 Party and Kindercamps.
Team Name: Sunday School Leadership Description: Volunteers will serve young children weekly or bi-weekly. They will provide a stable atmosphere for the children and prepare activities and lessons that teach Biblical truth.
Team Name: Explore (Children’s Recreation) Description: Volunteers will work alongside the ministry in providing recreation programs
for the children of CLC members who desire to work out while their children participate in recreation. We will share Bible studies with the children and lead games.
Team Name: High Risers (Saturday Morning Basketball) Description: Volunteers will play basketball, lead prayer and devotionals with the players
and look for ministry opportunities to have one on one conversations with participants.
We will meet on Saturday mornings beginning at 9:30 AM and ending at 12:30 PM.
Team Name: Slam Dunk - Basketball League Ministry (Recreation) Description: Volunteers will lead short devotionals and prayers before each game as
well as encouraging and praying for and with all players and teams. If you're interested
in sports and evangelism, serve with us here!
Team Name: Circulating Cruisers Description: Volunteers will assist with the online Patron Access Catalog. We will also enter patron information into computers, send out overdue notices, laminate member cards, maintain areas and print lists as needed.
Team Name: Dewey Decimal Doers Description: Volunteers will shelve and file books using Dewey Decimal classification. We
will also process new books, type spine labels, complete patron requests, make donation book plates, repair and mend damaged books, and assist with displays.
Team Name: Friendly Faces (Greeters) Description: Volunteers will greet guests as they arrive for concerts and conferences. We will also take up the offering, hand out programs, show guests to their seats and give directions around the building.
Team Name: What An Event! (Assistant Event Coordinator) Description: Volunteers will serve as assistants to the Event Manager for large conferences, concerts, weddings and dinners. These individuals will insure that all requests are met and that church policy is followed. Duties will include overseeing set-up and take-down of large events and handling of last minute emergencies.
Team Name: Parking Monitors Description: Volunteers will assist in the parking lots by directing traffic to open parking spaces. We will also provide directions to additional parking areas when lots become full.
Team Name: Shuttle Greeters Description: Volunteers will welcome and thank riders for using the offsite parking and shuttle service. We will also assist in maintaining the flow of shuttle buses.
Team Name: The Dotted Line Registration Team Description: Volunteers will assist by greeting people in the Welcome Center and helping to register women for ministry events. If you enjoy people, you will enjoy serving with this team!
